University of Michigan Club of the Sacramento Area

We have two fun events coming up this summer:

1.  Saturday, August 9 - Dinner (6 PM) and Theater (8 PM)
MY FAIR LADY and CHANTERELLE RESTAURANT

The University of Michigan Alumni Club of Sacramento has reserved a block of tickets for the Magic Circus production of My Fair Lady.  Magic Circus is the wonderful theater- in-the-round in downtown Sacramento. Most of us have seen My Fair Lady before, but experiencing it in the intimate setting of Magic Circus will be thrilling. Prior to the show, we'll have dinner together at Chanterelle restaurant, a few blocks away from the theater.  Chanterelle is a lovely French restaurant in an old Victorian. You’ll get to choose among 2 salads and 7 entrees. Dessert’s included as well. Cash bar available.  Let Jeane Borkenhagen (SacramentoClub@umich.edu) know if you want to reserve a spot.  $80/person

2.  Saturday, August 23, 1 PM 2nd Annual Big 10 BOWL GAME

Get ready for some great fun! Members of the Big 10 Club of Sacramento will meet Saturday, August 23, 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Strikes bowling alley in Rocklin for a bowling competition to mark the kick-off of football season. It’s sure to be a blast- so don’t forget to wear your school colors to this Big Ten “Bowl Game!”  Last year, the Indiana/Purdue team came in first place and won a bowling pin that is decorated with all Big 10 schools’ logos.   That same “trophy” will be passed down to this year’s winners.  Haven’t bowled in years? No problem- this is all about having FUN with other Big 10 alumni and fans and having a little Big Ten-style FRIENDLY COMPETITION! AFTER-GAME RECEPTION ( 3:00- ? PM):  After our bowling, we’ll all get together for some appetizers, beverages and socializing. How much?Only $10 per person for 2 games and shoe rental.  If you know you want to attend, go ahead and contact Jeane at SacramentoClub@umich.edu. We’ll have a limited number of lanes and need to let management at Strikes know how many are coming by July. For a flyer about the event click here. Want to see photos of last year’s event? Go to our website www.umclubs.com/sacramento and click on 2007 events. Then, click on Bowling Event. It was a blast.  We hope the turnout will be even greater this year because of all the advance notice.  Information about the Big 10 Club of Sacramento?Go to: http://www.msu.edu/~msuaa044/bigten.htm.  This site is hosted by the MSU Club.  By the way, we had over 150 Big 10 participants at the June 1 Big 10 Picnic. Lots of fun!

Photos galore: Take a look at our photo gallery on the left side bar of this Home page.

Our webmaster, Marc Schiff, does a great job of posting photos from past club events. Just click on the 2006, 2007 or 2008 in the left side bar to this home page to get a sample of the events. Also, we have a great section which features Sacramento UM alumni and fans, wearing or showing UM gear in all sorts of places. See- “UM Alumni on the Go.” Finally, we have a section which features photos of Ann Arbor and the UM campus. So, if you get nostalgic, you can stroll down State Street or walk on the Diag with a click of the mouse. Go Blue!
