U of M Club of Holland |
Welcome, University of Michigan Alumni and Friends! For information about the U-M Club of Holland, contact any of the officers below:
BUCKEYE BASHING For those of us who will not be camped out along the banks of the Olentangy in Columbus on November 22, Beth Coats will host a Football Viewing Party for the Ohio State game. Beth lives north of Holland at 16525 Blair Street in West Olive. (Directions: North on Butternut Drive to Blair Street; East on Blair Street about three-tenths of a mile to 16525.) Bring a dish to share (munchies, veggies or dessert) and cheer for the Maize and Blue. (Good luck charms and incantations will also be welcome!) Festivities will begin one half hour prior to game time, which has not yet been announced. Please contact Nancy Wheeler at 616.399.5165 or bnwheeler2@charter.net by Wednesday, November 19, if you plan to attend. TICKET EXCHANGE The U-M Club of Holland Ticket Exchange is available for all those interested in selling tickets they are unable to use. The ticket exchange can be found by going to the link in the column to the left. Go Blue! Wear Maize!
SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS . . . PLEASE! You can contribute to the U-M Club of Holland scholarship fund at the University of Michigan or at the Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will be greatly appreciated by the future award winning students. Equally important is the life lesson you will provide those students of our U-M legacy of leading by modeling the way. A contribution to either the University of Michigan or the Community Foundation can result in significant tax savings on your Federal income tax return if you itemize deductions. A contribution to the University of Michigan or the Community Foundation can result in a tax credit of up to $200.00 (married filing jointly) on your State of Michigan income tax return. (The State of Michigan offers separate credits for public contributions, e.g., contributions to public colleges and universities, and contributions to community foundations.) Your tax professional can provide additional details and recommend the best course of action for you. If you would like to make a contribution to the U-M Club of Holland scholarship account at the University of Michigan or the Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area, please make your check out to University of Michigan or Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area. Mark the memo section of the check "U-M Club of Holland Scholarships" and send your check to U-M Club of Holland, Post Office Box 8212, Holland, MI 49422-8212. 2008 ANNUAL DINNER AND BUSINESS MEETINGJohn U. Bacon was the guest speaker at the 2008 Annual Dinner and Business Meeting on May 1 at the Holland Country Club. He co-authored Bo's Lasting Lessons with legendary Michigan football coach Bo Schembechler. Bacon shared many examples of Bo's wit and wisdom with a most attentive and appreciative audience.
